With the rapid growth of education resources on the Internet, more and more usersbegin to study through the Internet. The traditional information retrieval based onkeyword matching has very low accuracy, so it becomes more and more difficult forusers to retrieve the required information from massive resources. How to enable usersto retrieve the required information quickly and efficiently becomes an urgent problemin the field of Network Learning.The traditional information retrieval based on keyword, which ignores the innersemantic relations between the user’s retrieval conditions and resources, causesinformation leak, mistake and other problems. Since it has a good concept hierarchy,Ontology combined with semantic reasoning can make up for the deficiency of thetraditional keyword-based retrieval.On the basis of studying the relevant technologies about ontology constructing andsemantic retrieval, ontology and semantic are applied to education resources retrievalfield in this paper and an ontology-based semantic retrieval model of educationresources is established. The thesis includes the following four parts:①The knowledge architecture is determined and knowledge topic specificationsare established for the construction of knowledge topic ontology. All levels ofknowledge architecture are analyzed which includes class, subject, course, sheet,chapter, knowledge unit, knowledge topic, etc.; all attributes of each level knowledgeare studied; and further research and analysis of the relations between knowledge topicsare included in this paper. Knowledge topic ontology is constructed according to theknowledge architecture and the specifications based on further study on ontologyconstruction theory and technology.②Ontology reasoning is studied and reasoning rules are defined. Ontology haslots of concepts and relations. Ontology reasoning mechanism is researched in thispaper and reasoning rules are defined according to a variety of concept relations ofknowledge topic ontology in order to lay a foundation for semantic expansion.③A semantic correlation computing method based on knowledge topic ontologyis proposed. The method uses the hierarchical structure of concepts and considersvarious factors to respectively calculate semantic similarity and semantic relativitythrough separating the relations between concepts. Then they were integrated into the semantic correlation.④SCORM metadata standards is studied and material resources collected fromNational Great Course are labeled to form ontological resources database withknowledge topic as the core.Furthermore, an exploratory study on ontology visualization, ontology sharing andreusing is also included in this paper.Finally, an education resources semantic retrieval system based on ontology isdesigned and implemented. The results show that the model and the method caneffectively improve the retrieval quality and compensate for the deficiency of thetraditional keyword-based retrieval.
