IEEE802.11is the wireless communication protocol of short andmiddle distance. It is widely used in WLAN. Its newest version is ā€œnā€. Forits widely using, study to it becomes the hot topic of industry andacademic.802.11n protocols are composed by PHY protocol, MAC protocol andnetwork protocol etc. Protocol contents are very plenty. So how to realizeit becomes a big challenge. The paper study the802.11n protocol, analysisthe new features of802.11n and focus on the study of MAC protocol.MAC layer is the most special layer in the whole layers. It is between thenetwork layer and PHY layer. It is the kernel part of LLC. Network layer isrealized by software and PHY layer is realized by hardware. So MAC layerlinked software and hardware. It makes the whole system complex andcombined with software and hardware.To design and verify such a complex system, the paper studies theMAC protocol in detail to make sure the design is consistent with protocol.In order for the hardware verification, advanced verification methodologyis used. From the start of hardware design, each step of hardware designhas its corresponding verification. That not only highly enhances thequality of hardware, but also shortens the period of debugging. At the sametime in order to develop software, the paper designs a co-design simulationplatform for software to co-design with hardware all along. It has beenproved that software design time is shortened by30%.
