Research And Implementation Of Intelligent Home Gateway Based On Triple Play

Three networks include telecommunications network, radio and television networkand Internet. Triple Play is an important phenomenon of industry convergence, whichinvolves industrial integration and business integration in the market level, institutionalintegration and legal integration in the management level and network integration andbusiness integration in the technical level. Among integration of the above, businessintegration is a major manifestation form of Triple Play, in which users can enjoy the samebusiness with different communication networks or different terminals. Currently, thecritical technical aspect of the proceeding of Triple Play is to achieve data forwardingbetween different communication networks and different protocol terminals. Therefore,the design and implementation of the software and hardware are offered respectively forintelligent home gateway based on Triple Play.Firstly, taking into account the important role of the home gateway in the futurecommunication network and general requirements, the overall design of the intelligenthome gateway based on Triple Play is given. The main idea of the design is that the wayof fixed network uplink and mobile network uplink integration is used in WAN(Wide AreaNetwork) side and the way of Ethernet interface cards and the wireless LAN(Local AreaNetwork) interface cards integration is used in LAN side, in order to provide both wiredand wireless LAN access methods for home terminals with the ability to access.Secondly, the hardware design is provided with the MIPS microprocessor RTL8196C,the Ethernet controller, the WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) interfaces cardRTL8196CE and wireless communication interface MSM6290 of Qualcom as the core.Moreover, a key to the design of the hardware module interface circuit is given.Thirdly, the software design is provided for intelligent integration home gatewaybased on the embedded Linux operating system. It includes the operating system’sselection and graft, the driver’s design and implementation and the focus design ofapplication process parallel operation mechanism. Moreover, the coexistence of multiplecommunications is achieved based on the mechanism.Finally, existing network test environment is set up. By simulating the various situations under existing network environment, the test given for the performancemeasures of the whole system. Experimental results verify the feasibility of achieving datamutual forwarding between different communications networks by integration of differentWAN access methods and different LAN access methods.
