Research And Implementation Of Home Gateway Device With Triple Play Service

As the service market for Home Network growing up gradually, Home Network is expected to bring great changes to our life, and drives a new tide of consumption of digital media and communications. The telecommunication industry understands Home Network as: it is connected with telecommunications network, and is capable of supplying many family-oriented comprehensive services including integrated high quality sound, data and multimedia transferring and home monitoring and management.Home Gateway plays a key role in Home Network and serves as a bridge between external network and home internal network. The vigorous development of digital home network creates a large market for Home Gateway. Meanwhile, with the popularity of services like IPTV and VOIP, the demands for triple play are quickly increased. There is high market value in researching and developing Home Gateway technique which supports triple play.Then the thesis analyzes the technical characteristic of Triple play and its demands for Home Gateway: offering high-bandwidth, strong capacity of Qos, excellent multicast magagement, improved NAT/FILTER capacity, and flexible model.In the third chapter the profile design of Home Gateway is presented. Giving the real condition of access to Internet, we choose ADSL2+ as the upward interface for Home Gateway and Broadcom's BCM6348 chip as the CPU. The functions of BCM6348 and the embedded operation systcm-linux are also briefly introduced in the thesis.The software framework of Home Gateway and several key functional model are also discussed. Considering the demands of triple play for Home Gateway, the thesis puts an emphasis on the WAN interface;bridge & route working togolher in system;I.GMP Snooping;WEB configurature interface and the status processing.In chapter fifth the paper discusses the design of NAT/FIREWORK of Home Gateway, analyzes the functional framework of Netfilter in linux, gives the concrete realizations of NAT/FIREWORK. As for the problem of trespassing NAT in H323 protocol, the paper discusses the implementation of H323 ALG in detail.After the QoS of Home Gateway has been analysed, the design model of ATM QoSn IP QoS in HG, and realizations are presented for specific conditions of ADSL. Those will guarantee the support which HG supplies with QoS of triple play services.The testing environment and testing data of Home Gateway are presented in the last part. The summarization and prospect of designing Home Gateway are also given in the paper.
