Research Of Home Gateway Based On H.248 Protocol For Voice Technology

With the advent of the next generation internet (NGN) and the triple play, the traditional TV, voice and Internet will be integrated with each other. Therefore it is necessary to construct a unified platform to carry all kinds of business. The home gateway will become the platform which is capable of realizing the multimedia communication, remote control and video monitoring. Consequently, the Home Gateway research will become a worldwide hot topic.This paper presents a solution for voice technology based on the H.248 protocol family home gateway. The research realizes the development of home gateway voice module by using H.248 protocol, focuses on the interoperability of H.248 protocol on voice module of the Home Gateway and media gateway control (MGC), and makes a detailed design on the working procedure. The author's work mainly includes the following aspects:(1) Research of the home gateway voice transport protocol selection module. This home gateway which is based on the requirements of voice transmission performance of the module, selects the H.248 protocol for the transmission control protocol, discusses the location of H.248 protocol in the network. H.248 protocol is the home gateway control protocol, used for media gateway control on home gateway control. Detailed analysis is made in the aspects of the connection control protocol model, the command character, description, services& information and security. And eventually, the protocol extension mechanism-package is given in the thesis.(2) The home gateway hardware and software implementations are present which include the diagram of hardware modules and. implementation. The hardware platform is the second development based on the development board at QQ2440V3. According to this design of home gateway usage environment for improvement of the Internet interface module, the DM9000 chip has been chosen to make the access of home gateway to the physical connection of100Mbits/s. Internet interface module is improved to meet the requirements of multimedia communication home gateway. On the hardware platform, the main design and development of speech coding module have been made. Home gateway software platform divides into embedded systems and application software platform. This paper focuses on the voice module of the application layer. According to functional requirements of the home gateway, it is divided into various independent modules, and each module is described in detail. Voice module, according to the needs of the main functions, are given specific programs to achieve various voice functions.(3) Makes a research on the concrete communication process of home gateway VoIP module and media gateway control. It realizes the concrete registration, cancellation, pick up the dial up call, the call ends the call release and the complete process of VoIP phones by the expansion capability of the H.248 protocol. The VoIP phones'function based on home gateway has really come true.(4) The sorts of voice business were tested by the software to detect if the interworking function of a home gateway and voice module has truly realized.
