This paper discusses the use of EPON optical access technology to design data access network, providing customers with high quality data network access and IPTV services. Broadband access, optical access to become a development trend, based on the EPON technology, can achieve gigabit data rates of high-speed access, such advantage is that other high-bandwidth access technology is difficult to achieve. The bandwidth of the unity of shared characteristics and the system makes the management and operations in the supply side is also very flexible, and can make full use of resources, reduce operating and maintenance costs, long-term cost savings.Firstly, from the customer’s business needs to develop a new generation of bandwidth demand projections indicate that the inevitability of PON technology. Then the access network for a simple overview, and describes the passive optical network optical access network, especially the status and development trend; by analyzing APON and BPON, EPON, and GPON features, and described the advantages of EPON technology, obtained EPON technology as currently used access network solutions; designed according to customer demand EPON network model.This paper from the basic principle, basic structure, such as starting stack discusses the basic principles of EPON,analyzes the uplink and downlink physical layer technology,analyzes the dynamic bandwidth allocation technologies, up and down channel multiplexing, stirring technology.This paper focuses on the analysis of EPON optical access at the access layer of the application. Subdivision in accordance with customer demand from the user model to segment EPON network construction, and then were on the OLT, ONU, ODN network from the perspective of passive optical construction of a preliminary plan, final engineering examples by Shenzhen Telecom in the EPON Kinds of tests validate some of the planning phase of the feasibility period.
