Study On EPON Technology And Its Application In Nanjing Mobile Access Networks

Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) technology has many advantages such as great transmission capacity, high reliability, low cost and flexible service provisioning abilities which makes it the main development trends in broadband access networks. It has been widely accepted that the combination of mature technology and satisfying customer's differentiated requirements is the promising technology for network long term evolution when telecom carriers are transformating for future IP centred networks. This thesis presents a comprehensive study on EPON technology and its application in Nanjing Mobile broadband access networks.Firstly,this thesis gives a brief introfuction of EPON principles and major techniques including PHY and MAC layer key technologies and evolution schemes. EPON networking technology is discussed and analyzed indetail which includes EPON application solutions, ODN solutions, and backup power solutions. EPON service provisioning solutions are presented including implementation of traditional service, and maintenance with the theoriatical analysis. A detailed analysis of the specific EPON implementation mechanism for Najing Mobile Guomao Building project is proposed.
