Improving College Students’ Legal Education Countermeasures

The legal constructions of this country have gained delectable success from the FifteenthNational Congress of the Communist Party of China, which decided to take “ruling thecountry by law, building a socialist country ruled by law “as the national strategy, to theforming of the socialist law system with Chinese characteristics. However, the constructionhas a long way to go. Since the construction should not only focus on the perfection of thelegal system, but also pay more attention to the general improvement of citizens’ legal quality.Strengthening the legal propagation education, and continuously improving the whole nation’sawareness of the law and consciousness of studying law, understanding of law, and obeyingthe law, which is the basic work of the construction of the socialist legal.Today, with the society calling for strengthening the legal construction and education, thelegal awareness and quality level of the college students will be related to the process of legalconstruction in the new historical period in China. Although Chinese colleges and universitieshave made certain achievements for more than30years of legal education, it is not effective.The fact is that the university students are short of legal consciousness, knowledge in law.Illegal and even criminal behavior has repeatedly happen, so the situation doesn’t adapt to theconstruction of socialist rule of law society, college students’ all-round and free development.Therefore, it is very important to study on the efficacy of legal education of universitystudents.This paper is divided into four parts to analyze college students’ legal education toimprove countermeasures from the angles of school, family, society, and themselves, on thebasis of previous research, combining with development, in order to make clear the legaleducation orientation as a starting point.The first part is introduction; this part mainly discusses the purpose and significance,basic ideas, methods, research status at home and abroad, and the innovation of research.The second part is the basic theories of legal education of university students. This partmainly outlines the legal system, legal education, the connotation of university students’ legal education and the content and function, defining the goal and orientation of legal education ofuniversity students.The third part is the present situation and analysis of college students’ legal education.This part analyzes the questionnaire, summarizes the legal education of college students:favorable factors and constraints, and discusses the reasons for the lack of legal education ofuniversity students.The fourth part is to improve college students’ legal education countermeasures. This partproposes the corresponding countermeasure in four aspects which are based on the legaleducation in colleges and universities, improving the family legal education, purifying thesocial legal environment, guiding students’ self legal education.
