The development of the times has improved more specialized requirements of the teaching profession. An important issue for school reform and development is to enhance teachers’ professional level. The fact is that a considerable part of mature teachers have a poor sense of professional development and low motivation. More and more educational changes within schools also reduce the time and space for mature techers to improve their professional competence. Thus, professional development of mature teachers has already been the problem that needs to be solved.In this thesis, stating from the case of Z primary school on the status quo of mature teachers’ professional development, it recalls the history of shaping professional characteristics, makes a specific analysis of the process, the effect and the problems of professional development. Through practice and reflection, the purpose is to further clarify the solution on mature teachers’ professional development in primary schools.The researcher makes a survey on mature teachers’ professional development in the case school. Through channels such as observation, questionnaires and interviews, it makes a fully understanding and master of the structure and process. And then it finds the question of mature teachers’ professional development is the poor sense and lacking of motivation. On the basis of the problems, the case school has made a series of explorations and practice on mature teachers’ professional development. Then, it recalls and combs the course of shaping the professional characteristics, affirms the effectiveness, and finds the resulting new issues. It also analyzes the courses of the problems.Also, the researcher makes a review and summary of the practices and explorations on the shaping of professional characteristics in the case school. It clears the breakthrough on mature teachers’ professional development. It cannot make a success only by the single force on the reform and promote of school management system. Mobilizing the intrinsic power of mature teachers is more needed, which can combine school vision, school management goal and individual development aspiration for teachers in all.In the process of mature teachers’ professional development, there has been a vicious circle of recurring weak development of consciousness and power missing. Facing the fact, it’s better to define the professional development characteristics of the particular stage, which can be an important part of teachers’ ideal value. Only in this way can the professional development of mature teachers be sustained.Teachers’ professional development is a continuous and spiral process of change. Teachers can experience the value of life and fun of teaching activities only by continuous learning and innovation. |
