In our daily teaching process, almost all theteachers will adopt the multi-media teaching—videos, PPT or whiteboard. But usually these forms have their limitations and their effects onteaching are scattered. On this basis, the appearance of Moodle isattached increasing importance. Moodle, Modular Object OrientedDynamic Learning Environment, means the modular dynamic learningenvironment aiming at subjects. It is a courses management systembased on the teaching theory of constructivism, a open-sourcesoftware free of charge and a course and software package used toconstruct based on the Internet. Professor Li Jiahou in Shanghai Normalpromotes Moodle as “modeng” in Chinese to the whole country.Itsopen-source feature and modular design make it feasible in practiceand its application has been increasingly popular. However, it is notsuitable for all the subjects. In teaching biology in the high school, teachers have to consider whether it can adjust to the learning methodof senior two, whether it will occupy too much after-class time, whetherthe teacher can command the whole teaching process and whetherthe teaching method has any effect on the learning, which are theproblems worth our consideration. The teaching of applying Moodleincludes many new teaching theories and teaching methods. The essay introduces the function andfeatures of Moodle, its advantages, the theoretic basis of teaching, thelearning theory of constructivism, the self-learning theory andcooperative learning theory. The essay will establish the feasibility ofMoodle in the teaching of biology by combining these teachingtheories with Moodle. In addition, the essay learns about the presentleaning conditions and the learning habits of the students through theinvestigation of questionnaires. In the teaching process of applyingMoodle, the differences from the traditional teaching is used to learnthe students’ leaning development of students by using investigationsand voting, which can help me grasp the learning process of students.Last, the essay explores the application of Moodle in teaching biologyin the high school, its advantages and feasibility compared with thetraditional teaching by specific teaching cases.
