Cultivation Of Marine Awareness In The Teaching Of History In The Middle School

Marine awareness is a series of understanding of the world’s oceans in a period of time by a country or nation. Therefore, its formation and evolution are directly related to the status of the oceans in human society, the roles in human life and the values to the human. It also means the overall view of the relationship between oceans and the national fundamental interests. The strength of ocean awareness directly determines the strength of the naval forces of a country and the country’s rise and fall. As we know, the middle students relate to the country’s future and hope of the nation, which means the strength of ocean awareness, level of marine amount of knowledge and marine quality, are directly related to the implementation of the strategy of building a maritime power. Considering the curriculum reform and current high school history teaching situation, this paper, which bases on the fundamental understanding of the marine awareness, focuses on the combination of theory and practice and the mining of the depth of history textbooks, to actively cultivate the students’ awareness of ocean. To accomplish the goal, this paper also carries out classroom teaching, school-based curriculum development through questionnaires, documents, and cases, etc.
