Objective:To summarize the problems existing in Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment of metabolic hypertension from current research and discuss its future development directioa Analysis academic experience of professor Xiaolin Tong in treating metabolic hypertension with Chinese Herbs and in syndrome differentiation to be helpful to the inheritance of the TCM expert expertise as well as further clinical research. Methods:The paper can be divided into two parts, the literature and summarization of professor clinical experience. The first part reviews the status quo of Chinese and Western Medicine research on high blood pressure and their treatment. It is in the end of summary that the shortage of TCM treatment in metabolic hypertension and the prospective direction of its development.Clinical part bases on the specialized Microsoft Database of metabolic hypertension. A total of347(to amount to1119man-time) medical records of Chinese Academy of TCM Guang’anmen Hospital were collected. All the data in the database were analyzed by different data mining ways, including clustering analysis, frequency statistics, association rules and scale-free network model, from which the rules of using herbs and syndromes differentiation are summarized and the clinical experience professor Xiaolin Tong is shown. Results:Professor Tong values tongue and pulse diagnosis, overall considerates of symptom, syndrome and disease to help clinical treatment. There are five ways in treating metabolic hypertension:leading out the water in pulse, flatting out liver wind, extinguish phlegm, town liver wind, promoting blood circulation to dredge collaterals. There are also five characteristics in using herbs:specializing with Jingfang; ingenious use of drug suits; small prescription to good curative effect; dosage according to severity; overall consideration of symptom, syndrome and disease. From the clinical experience of professor Tong, different decoctions are used for different syndrome:Zexie Decoction to lead out water in pulse. Ttanma Gouteng Decoction for liver yang syndrome, Banxia Tianma Baizhu Decoction for phlegm syndrome. Zhenganxifeng Decoction for deficienct yin tailing to restrict yang syndrome. The dosage of the decoctions are different according to the degree of syndrome, whose changing rules are summarized after data mining. The mostly used herbs for main symptoms, main syndromes and the common used decoctions for metabolic diseases are also summarized. Conclusion:From Chinese and Western Medicine on the treatment of metabolic hypertension in all kinds of literature in recent years, conclusion can be summarized:Firstly, the prevention and treatment of hypertension should not only focus on lowering blood pressure but also minimize the risk of chronic complications. Secondly, although Traditional Chinese medicine is not as good as western medicine in the speed and intensity of lowering blood pressure, it has advantages both in preventing vascular disease and complications and in correcting metabolic disorders with overall concept. This study also preliminarily summarized the clinical experience and academic thoughts of instructor Xiaolin Tong on the treatment of metabolic hypertension from mathematical analysis, to provide a reference in the summarization, study and inheritance of the TCM expert expertise.
