Swelling Elimination Post Treatment Of Critical Patients Curative Effect Observation Of Gastrointestinal Dysfunction

BackgroundGastrointestinal dysfunction is the critical symptoms of the serious diseases. It can damage the structure and the normal immune function of the intestine. In addition, it can accelerate the mortality of the patients. Consequently, it is a great task for us to make solutions and measures to prevent and remedy the occurrence of gastrointestinal dysfunction. However, western medicine mainly focus on improving the intestinal motility, keeping micro-ecological balance and providing sufficient nutrients to the intestinal mucosa to keep the gastrointestinal function, which only benefits patients a little. With the increasingly development of the clinical practices, the Traditional Chinese Medicine plays more and more important roles on treating gastrointestinal dysfunction.ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effects of eliminating abdominal-distension plaster on critical diseases with gastrointestinal dysfunction. And its influences on the severity of the diseases and prognosis of the patients are also assessed.MethodUsing the retrospective research method, totally80example cases of ICU of Guang’ anmen Hospital, dated from Jan.2011to Dec.2012, was selected. And all the cases meet the diagnostic criteria of critical diseases with gastrointestinal dysfunction.80patients were divided into the Treatment Group with40patients and the Control group with40patients. And the Treatment Group were offered eliminating abdominal-distension plaster treatment based upon routine treatment, while the Control group received the routine treatment only. Gastrointestinal dysfunction score, APACHE Ⅱ score, gut tolerance to enteral nutrition, barborygmus, abdominal circumference, laboratory data, and the14days morality are selected as the main observing indexes for critical effects.Results1The common condition of the patients in both groups, such as the gender, ages, were with no significant difference. 2Eliminating abdominal-distension plaster treatment have better effects on the gastrointestinal dysfunction. Treatment Group were improved on gastrointestinal dysfunction score compared with the Control group (P<0.01). Both groups were improved on gut tolerance to enteral nutrition, and Treatment Group is better than the Control group (P<0.05). Moreover, compared with the Control group, barborygmus were increased and the abdominal circumference were decreased significantly in the Treatment Group (P<0.05).3Eliminating abdominal-distension plaster treatment can remarkably improve the severity and the prognosis of the patients. APACHE Ⅱ score descend obviously in the while the Treatment Group (P<0.05) while there was no significant difference in the Control group. And the lower14days morality were observed in Treatment Group, compared with that of Control group (P<0.05).4Eliminating abdominal-distension plaster treatment can reduce inflammation.In he Treatment Group, WBC counts and CRP level after treatment were both decreased (P<0.05). However, the effects in both groups were with no significant difference.ConclusionThe clinical effects of eliminating abdominal-distension plaster on critical diseases with gastrointestinal dysfunction are definite. It can promote the recovering of gastrointestinal dysfunction, reduce the severity and inflammation, decrease the motality and improve the prognosis of the patients.
