Objective:According to different treatment methods of KOA and clinical efficacy, the selected moxibustion as treatment methods and analyze the deficiency of existing moxibustion. To summarize designed experience of existing moxibustion apparatus to design a new type of moxibustion apparatus in order to better meet for the needs of KOA treatment, apply for patents and use in clinical.Materials and Methods:By finishing analysis of knee osteoarthritis. moxibustion, moxibustion treatment of knee osteoarthritis, moxibustion with literature in recent years, selected traditional moxibustion as treatment methods.To design a new type of moxibustion apparatus by summarizing the characteristics and deficiencies of modern moxibustion apparatus in KOA and introduce a self-developed three-dimensional multi-directional moxibustion instrument design ideas, apparatus structure, use and applied field, clinical data with the purpose of providing a new direction for researching moxibustion apparatus for treatment of knee osteoarthritis and the basis of the clinical treatment of KOA.A new type of moxibustion apparatus used in clinical.316cases met the inclusive criteria of the observed objects by serial number, were randomly divided into98cases of traditional moxibustion group, modern moxibustion apparatus group of100cases, TDP of108cases, traditional moxibustion group selected internal and external knee eye, Yanglingquan, Zusanli, Heding with bird pecking moxibustion:and group of moxibustion apparatus adopted self-developed three-dimensional directional multi-points (Application No.:ZL201120105922.0) including fixed inside and outside knee eye, Yanglingquan, Zusanli, Heding, and place moxibustion treatment; TDP of group chose to treat anterior diseased knee with TDP’s lamp. The three groups were treated for30min or so, one time per day and28days as a course. Three groups were compared to assess the efficacy at the end of treatment.Results:1.Successfully developing a new type of moxibustion apparatus and meet early design needs which has been applied for patent.2.By comparing VAS results before and after treatment, traditional moxibustion. new moxibustion apparatus and TDP have a good analgesic effect, the three groups did not have a significant difference.3.Knee function in the two before and after treatment to evaluate the traditional moxibustion. new types of moxibustion apparatus and TDP improved significantly knee function, but the TDP doesn’t have no obvious effects on eliminating the joint swelling. Traditional moxibustion and new types of moxibustion apparatus have better effects on improving knee function and eliminating the swelling than the TDP.(P<0.05), the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion:Verified by experiment, the moxibustion apparatus has inherited the advantages of traditional moxibustion. and follows moxibustion as materials by three-dimension orientation method for accurate positioning, achieving multi-points with moxibustion at the same time, then according to different figures choose flexibly different body parts. In order to achieve better play the function of moxibustion, the new type of moxibustion apparatus is superior to existing moxibustion and is better able to meet the needs of the KOA moxibustion. It is accepted and enjoyed by the majority of users because this innovative design have achieved better clinical care functions and more humanized service with its lower economic costs, a wealth of clinical experience and a unique mechanical design.
