ObjectiveThis study aims to through the application of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ) scale personality psychology of monks who take meditation as main practice.Then analyzes its personality traits, from the point of view of the personality in meditation to find a new way and thinking of treating before disease.MethodsSubject research using psychometric experiment method, choose the GongYaoXian revision of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)(adult) as a tool, meditation monks personality for measurement.According to the choice standard test, a total of133cases of meditation data of monks have been measured. Gender, practice patterns, the daily practice, practice years, and the actual strength of practice time are grouping factors.Using software SPSS16.0statistics, the scale of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire four dimension, spirit, internal and external quality P to E, neurotic N, hide the original points for L t points and norm t points have been measured by t-test, chi-square test, analysis of variance and covariance analysis method respectively, the group and the norms for comparison and analysis.ResultsThe results of this study are as follows:①Meditation monks comparing to the average of GongYaoXian normal model, meditation group of P, E, N three scale are lower than those of the norms of the score, L scale points higher than the norm, and the P, E bhikkhu group two scale points and the norms have statistically significant differences, the P scale bhikshunis group differences have statistical significance.②Meditation of monks, the age and education, practice, and practice of daily strength and P scale points, are significant positive correlated.Practice patterns are obvious negative correlation with them. Meditation monks’ P scale points and N scale points are significant positive correlated, P scale points and L scale points are obvious negative correlated.③Monks and nuns had between the two groups P, E, N, L each scale points.difference has no statistical significance.④The daily practice more than five hours of strength group compared with daily practice intensity is less than or equal to five hours of group, N scale points have statistically significant differences, P, E, and L scale difference have no statistical significance.⑤In less than10years of practice of the group and compared with10Y<20years of group, N scale points have statistically significant differences, P, E, and L scale difference have no statistical significance.⑥According to the actual practice time into short, medium and long group, short group and medium group N scale points have statistically significant differences, short and long group of L scale points have marginal significant difference.⑦Pray to Buddha group and the group compared with Buddhist meditation group L scale points are statistically significant differences, the curse group compared with L scale points difference have marginal significant differences. Pray to Buddha group compared with the curse group of P, E, N, L each scale points difference have no statistical significance.Conclusions⑧Meditation monks personality have significant low neurotic characteristics; Partial introverted personality, monks are more apparent, inside and outside in intermediate state to bhikshunis are neither introverted nor outgoing; Emotions are more stable than ordinary people, not easily excited, low state of anxiety; Hide degrees are higher than the normal, especially the nuns had a higher degree of hide characteristics, showing that meditation on buddhist monks have better recognition, tacitly, obedience and faithful than normal level is high, the tacit approval of the faithful bhikshunis are higher②Older zen pratictioner often choose to pray to Buddha practice, the daily practice time is longer, showing older zen pratictioner are more pressing and more diligence, as the growth of the age the practices also appears more stubborn.③Meditation practice helps to stable mood, the more the daily practice is the stronger emotional control ability will be.④Pray to Buddha and the curse of the way as practice zen pratictioner personality are closer and more dependent on buddhist doctrine than conversation. And the zen pratictioner conversation’s obedience to buddhist doctrine are less than the curse of the zen pratictioner and Pray to Buddha group reflects the zen conversation "will not make words, and don’t let out side "characteristics.
