Five-star Hotel Rooms In Beijing Design Research

Since the reform and opening-up policy, Beijing hospitality has developed continuously and guest room design has changed a lot. Guest room incomes are the main incomes of the hotels. Comprehending the changes of the guest room design and mastering the new design content can optimize the hotel guestroom design, and raise the renting rate of the guest rooms and the economic benefits of the hotels. So it has prime important realistic meanings.Using the methods of literature collection, field research and design practice, the paper focuses on the analysis and summary of changes in five-star hotel guest room design in Beijing during different periods, to provide lessons and references for hotel guestroom design.First, the paper does the research on the development history of guest rooms at home and abroad, and analyses the guests’ types and psychological. Meanwhile, the paper elaborates some concepts of guest room design. Then, the paper expounds the classification of hotels and characteristics of classification in China and abroad, and does contrast and analysis on the changes in the five-star hotel guest room requirements in "Classification and Accreditation for Star-rated Tourist Hotels" over the years, including guestroom types and other six aspects. Thirdly, the paper analyses the present situation and early contents of five-star hotel guest room design in Beijing at length, and find out the changes of hotel guestroom design in recent years, concluding the scales, the function areas and funitures in different guest rooms, the bathrooms, the interior decorations, the technological facilities and the physical environment in guest rooms. At last, the paper gives guestroom design suggestions which are fit for the demands of five-star hotel guestroom design in "Classification and Accreditation for Star-rated Tourist Hotels" and summarizes the changes of five-star hotel guest room design in Beijing.
