"Modern Chinese Dictionary"(below it referred to as the" modern Chinese") isthe first standard of our country medium-sized Chinese dictionaries for the purpose ofpromoting Mandarin and the standardization of modern Chinese language."ModernChinese"(5thEdition) has achieved fruitful results on interpretation research. Thispaper chooses examples in interpretation language as the object of study,which is lackof profound research. Through the description,to summarize the law and problems ofthe examples.The paper is divided into five chapters.The first part is the introduction, to define the research object and point out thedifferences with prototype and instance and then to introduce the research value, idea,method and the problem that should note.The second part description of the examples in the interpretation language. Theresearch object consists of two categories: examples in a additional content andexamples in a main content. Through the statistics, examples in the main content ofthe interpretation language is more typical of a class. For these two categories wedescribe them respectively from the language characteristics and explaining words’part of speech characteristics. The two categories have its own distinctive features, butthe distinction between them is not insurmountable, in some cases their interpretationlanguage can be transformed into each other.The third part is interpretation principle and characteristics of the examples in theinterpretation language. First put forward the principle that the research objectfollows: generality, accuracy, systematicness, facilitating understanding and memory.Then it analyzes the characteristics: the typical, high-frequency, hierarchy and theword “deng”. Finally it analyzes the effect of the examples, to make the interpretationeasier to understand and memorize.The fourth part pointing out the problems which contains in the examples ofinterpretation language of " modern Chinese" from three points: the economy of theinterpretation, the accuracy and the forms of the interpretation language. Specifically, the accuracy part also contains problems, such as whether the examples are typical,high-frequency, the usage of the word “deng”, the number of the examples.The fifth part is the conclusion, to summarize the main content of the whole thesis.
