These years, along with the rise of the people’s diversified demand of art life, the normal universities have also developed Cello Teaching subjects. The development of cello teaching subjects make more university students get the opportunity to contacts and learning the cello, between them a large number of students will become our country’s primary music educators, as these students gradually entered the job, their knowledge and understanding of the cello are also bring far-reaching positive impact for this instrument’s popularization. However, with the vigorous development of cello teaching in universities, we have to know there still have a lot of problems.The cello teaching method in normal universities is based on that of the professional conservatory, but because of the difference of teaching goal, this "transplant" Isn’t acclimatized very well. In order to overcome it, the cello teachers did a lot of positive exploration and innovation. However, because there have no mature and systematic theory to support the cello teaching in normal universities, and there still have some different understanding in goal, function and other aspects of the teaching,, and there may be mutually paradoxical, unable to form a unified and systematic system.The author believes that the primary key of the Cello Teaching is accurate targeting. The goal of the cello teaching in professional conservatory is to develop professional music talent with a creative ability and stage performances ability, which does not match the cello education, therefore, the first job is to relocate the objectives of the cello teaching in normal universities. With a widely recognized teaching objectives, the variety of exploration and innovation will play the important role in cello Teaching, fused into a complete system. Therefore, in the beginning of the article, the author has analyzed the necessity of cello teaching in normal universities and its teaching objectives and functions.Then, the author expounded several principles and common methods in cello teaching with the teaching needs and practices of the normal universities. These principles and methods will enter the analysis and the reforms as the theoretical basis of the cello teaching.After the description of the theoretical basis of the cello teaching, the author makes a detail analysis on the status of cello teaching from teaching philosophy, teaching objects, course settings, teaching content and teaching mode. Through the analysis we can see that, due to the mechanical copying of cello teaching methods, uneven qualities of the students caused by the expansion, teaching resources insufficient and so on,. The cello teaching research in normal universities is still at the initial stage, and there stills have problems to be solved in various aspects.Next, the author put forward recommendations on how to solve the above problem. The author gives the corresponding solution in five areas from the practice Including rooted in the normal universities to form a teaching philosophy; Strengthening the input, especially tapping the potential of the software when the educational resources is limited, the hardware input is generally insufficient; instruction students in accordance with their aptitude;, Compiling textbooks especially for normal students; using new technology and new methods in the teaching mode to improve the efficiency and so on.The cello teaching research in normal universities is a systematic project, a collection of a series subjects, because of the limit in resources and capabilities, the author neither can give a satisfactory answers to each sub-topic mentioned in the text, nor can prove the recommendations in practice. The author attempts to clarify that how we should research and practice in cello teaching in normal universities and further make it as a complete theoretical system. For this purpose, the author summarized the theoretical basis of the cello teaching in normal universities by her own understanding, perhaps limited by the resources and capabilities, the theory which author summarized in the text is still have something questionable; The another meaning the author want to express is that only get a consensus on these basic theory, we can analyze that what kind of shortage in our teaching practice and how to reform. For the same reason, the author make a analysis and reform proposals on the current status of cello teaching in normal universities with herself understanding, though many proposals is still merely in the conceptual stage, need to prove in practice, but the author hopes that this text can play a valuable role in the cello teaching in normal universities, can bring the inspiration and enlightenment to cello educators, can contribute the cello teaching herself.
