The basic music education curriculum reform is developing in depth. With the implementation of new curriculum, primary and secondary music education has got a historical change. The advancing of the new curriculum ideas, teaching methods, and curriculum evaluation concept has put a higher requirement for the quality of primary and secondary school music teachers. Under such a background, as a chief position of training secondary school teachers, senior normal universities are facing with a series of reforms. On the problem of how to train qualified music teachers in primary and secondary schools, senior normal universities have carried on many attempts in the fundamental research and teaching methods, and make the necessary adjustments and reforms in specialty setting, curriculum system and teaching methods and other aspects. All those have made great achievements. But in my opinion, in the past, the focus of senior normal university music educative reform was the reconstruction and improvement of mechanism and system. As one of the teaching major subjects, senior normal university music teachers have paid much attention to the educational problem of senior normal university music teachers, but how to manifest the demonstrative problems of senior normal university music teachers----the problem of comprehensive quality----have not been paid due attention to. Therefore, this paper tries to discuss the problem about senior normal university music teachers'quality, that is how to train qualified primary and secondary school music teachers under the background of basic music education curriculum reform. The main contents of the thesis are as follows:analysis and thought on the condition of basic music education, senior normal university music education and basic music educational reform should be synchronized, the political thought, professional knowledge, the research capabilities and some other quality and capacity that senior normal university music teachers should possess, and how to improve senior normal university music teachers'basic quality and so on.The training aim of senior normal universities is to "adhere to the services for the basic education". The basic music education curriculum reform has made historical and breakthrough progress. The primary and secondary music curriculum has undergone a fundamental quality leap. Nowadays, in the wave of the basic music education curriculum reform, music education becomes more international and more informational. What fundamental qualities senior normal university music teachers should have and how they can promote their abilities are two problems deserving of study in the basic music education curriculum reform.As a senior normal university music teacher, the most important task is to strengthen the self-education, to get training and further studies through various channels, and improve their cultural literacy and professional accomplishment and to better use them in teaching. In the mean time, improving the treatment of senior normal university music teachers is a problem worthy of social concerns. Senior normal university music teachers should be given humanistic care, only in this way can they completely immerse and devote to their work.
