Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect on post-stroke depression with acupuncturing si shen cong and five zang back-shu acupoints and preliminary discuss the possible mechanism.Methods:40cases of patients matched with the inclusion criteria with post-stroke depression were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, each group was20cases. The treatment group was treated by the foundation treatment plus acupuncture, once a day, treatment in6days then rest1day, a total of28days; the control group was treated by the foundation treatment plus fluoxetine,20mg each time, once a day for28days, the degree of depression in the two groups of patients was assessed by Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), the daily life activities ability was assessed by pap index (BI),the safety and side effects was observed, the5-HT content in plasma was tested before and after treatment respectively, after that curative effect was statistical analyzed.Results:1. The HAMD total score after treatment were obviously decreased in comparison with those before treatment in both groups, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the reduction range in the two groups was similar and there was no statistically difference (P>0.05).2. The BI score after treatment were obviously increased in comparison with those before treatment in both groups, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01); the treatment group was increased more obviously than the control group and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). 3. The content of5-HT in plasma after treatment were obviously arised in comparison with those before treatment in both groups, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the increase range in the two groups was similar and there was no statistically difference (P>0.05).4. The markedly effective rate and total effective rate in the treatment group were55%、90%, while in the control group were50%、90%, the overall curative effect in the two groups was similar and there was no statistically difference (P>0.05).5. The safety in the treatment group is good, the SERS score during treatment in the treatment group was significantly lower in comparison with those in the control group, the difference is highly significant (P<0.01); and there was not found adverse reaction in the treatment group. It appeared nausea and anorexia in one case of the control group. Conclusion:Acupuncturing si shen cong and five zang back-shu acupoints has obvious therapeutic effect on patients with post-stroke depression, it can improve the degree of depression and increase the content of5-HT in plasma, the effect same as fluoxetine, meanwhile, it can improve their ability in daily life activities in which it has obvious advantages than fluoxetine; it has good safety with no toxic side effects and digestive tract reactions, worthing further researching and widely using on clinic. The mechanism may be related to5-HT content in plasma and so on, and needs further research and clarify.
