Clinical Research Of The Treatment On Hypochondriasis For College Students By Using The Meta-cognition Intervention Technique

Objective: On the base of the past researches, this thesis will study whether theMeta-cognition Intervention Technique can cure Hypochondriasis for Collegestudents and do a further study on the effect of treatment, the course of treatment,prognostic keeping and so on.Methods: This study will select four college hypochondriacs meetinghypochondriac diagnostic standard, who are from the Counseling Center of LiaoningNormal University, applying the Multiple-baseline design of different clients. It usesthe scores of Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90), the Hypochondriasis Clinical Scales(HS) of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), Yale-BrownObsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS) as the quantitative standard whether thetreatment effects. And design the Fear Emotion Self-Evaluation Scale andObsessive-Compulsive Symptoms Self-Evaluation Scale to record the clients’emotional experience and times of typical compulsion as the experimental indicatorsof the Multiple-baseline design.Results: After the intervention, the result of the four clients’SCL-90shows thatall the scores of abnormal factors are below the demarcation; the scores of the HSClinical Scales of MMPI reduce below the clinical standard significantly; there aretwo clients with Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms whose scores of the YBOCS arebelow the clinical standard. Multiple-baseline chart shows that the clients’ fearemotion has an obvious decline trend and the times of typical compulsion of the othertwo clients also obviously declines. All the symptoms of the four clients have noevidence of relapse after three regular return visits during three months.Conclusion: Meta-cognition Intervention Technique can cure theHypochondriasis of college students effectively and can make a significant effect. Itwill take a short course of treatment and no relapse by using Meta-cognitionIntervention Technique to cure Hypochondriasis of college students. Therefore,Meta-cognition Intervention Technique is an efficient method to cureHypochondriasis of college students.
