Objective: To study curative effect and the functional mechanism of treatingPeriarthritis Scapulohumeralis by “manipulation and therapeutic exercise”. Methods:60patients were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group,30in treatmentgroup and others of control group. The treatment group treated by “manipulation andtherapeutic exercise”, while the control group of using pure Tuina manipulation. Set up acomprehensive evaluation on the integral changes of symptoms, physical signs. Results:The “manipulation and therapeutic exercise” group has a remarkable curative effectcompared with the pure Tuina manipulation group. The improvement of the patients’symptoms and physical signs is superior to that of using pure Tuina manipulation (P <0.05).Conclusion: Clinical study shows that the manipulation and therapeutic exercise has aremarkable curative effect. Combined with local anatomy, physiology, pathology andmodern research, the functional mechanism may include: release muscle and dredgemeridians, promote the circulation of qi and blood, remove spasm and reduce pain. Alsotherapeutic exercise can restore the flexibility of interrelated muscles, play a role of selfadjustment. Two methods complement each other, reflecting the Chinese holism conceptsand curing for disease roots, making an active role in the curative effect and recurrence forPeriarthritis Scapulohumeralis.
