Objective: To observe the clinical effect of AO tension band fixation and Cable Pinsystems on treatment of patella fractures. To analyze their superiority and deficiencyrespectively in order to guide clinical application through contrast. Methods: According to inclusion criteria, select52cases of patella fractures fromAugust2010to May2012, the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TCMOrthopaedic Trauma, including Cable Pin in25cases (group A), the AO tension band of27cases (group B), To contrast and analyze of the two fixed methods in incisionlength, operative time, postoperative fracture healing time, knee range of motion and kneefunction in terms.Results:(1) incision length was no significant difference (P>0.05).(2) operation timehas a significant difference (P <0.01), Cable Pin systems group was better than the AOtension band group.(3) Cable Pin system is better than the AO tension band in load time (P<0.01).(3) no significant difference in fracture healing time between the two groups (P>0.05).(4) knee activity and knee function after the same time has significant difference (P<0.01), Cable Pin systems group was better than the AO tension band group. Conclusion: Both AO tension band and Cable Pin system for the treatment of patellarfracture have achieved good results. Each method has its own superiority in clinicaloperation concretely, and need to choose according to the actual in clinical.
