Objective: To compare the Kirschner tension band with non- Kirschner tension band fixation for the treatment of patella fracture. Methods: from 2002 to 2004, 91 cases of patella fracture with the Kirschner tension band and non- Kirschner tension band fixation. Patella fractures were retrospectively Clinical evaluation and statistical analysis. Result: Kirschner tension band group of 42 patients excellent in 40 cases. Non-Kirschner tension band of 49 patients, good in 47 cases, there were no significant differences by Ridittest (P>0.05). Conclusion: non- Kirschner tension band fixation of the patella fracture is a mature technology, Especially for comminuted fracture of the patella heavier types should be encouraged surgical method.
