Objectives This study aims at understanding the situation of Demonstration Wardactivity conducted in a hospital, evaluating the inpatients satisfaction to nursing careand its influence factors and then to provide targeted advice and suggestions fortransformation of nursing service mode in hospital and improvement of inpatientssatisfaction to Demonstration Ward.Method:Cluster sampling was used to collect317inpatients and73nurses from"Demonstration Ward.Self-designed questionnaires were used to interview thoseinpatients and nurses. Head-nurse from Demonstration Ward were interviewed using ainterview outline. EpiData3.1Software was employed to entry data.We useddescriptive analysis such as mean,standard deviation,frequency and composition ratio,univariate analysis(independent non parametric test) and multivariate logisticregression analysis to analysis data.Results(1)According to the activity requirement of Demonstration Ward,organizational leadership, nursing management, nursing care,and security measureswere.In doing so some achievements were made. Inpatients satisfaction to nursingcare had rised to99.3%.Inspected wards four times a day by head-nurses became aspecial activity. The chain of basic hursing care was explored. There were someproblems in the activity,such as partly taking the charge of nursing care,shortage ofnurses,no detail assessment standards.Meanwhile, the utilization rate of beds in4Demonstration Wards were more than100%and ratios of beds and nurses were less than1:0.4;(2) The311inpatients from " Demonstration Ward " were investigated, thescore of satisfaction to nursing care and environment were3.19±1.31respectively;(3)The results of univariate analysis showed that there were significant difference in thesatisfaction to general nursing service in Demonstration Wards among patients withdifferent characteristics,which were ages,inpatient departments, occupations, reside-nces,payment way, experience with surgery,awareness of the charge for nursing care,satisfaction to informing content and time by nurses in advance, satisfaction to healtheducation at the time of admission,nursing skill,assurance of relatives to nurses,workattitude and work mode of nurses.(p<0.05);(4) The results of multivariate analysisshowed that the satisfaction to general nursing service in rural inpatients was higherthan that in urban inpatients, the satisfaction in the inpatients who did not know thecharge for nursing care was higher than that in those who knew the charge, theinpatients who were more satisfied with the informing content and time by nurses inadvance were more satisfied with the nursing care;(5) The score of the nursessatisfaction to nursing was3.56±0.87,the score of satisfaction to working hours andpay was low while the the score of satisfaction to Demonstration Ward activity wasthe highest.Conclusion (1)Most work of Demonstration Ward activity in the hospital has beenconducted,More attention should be paid on taking nursing care fee, increasing thenumber of nurse,building the assessment standards and improving the ratios of bedsand nurses;(2) There are a highest score of satisfaction to nursing skill in patients andthe low scores of satisfaction to informing content and time by nurses in advance andhealth education from nurses,while the score of the satisfaction to nursing care stayedin the middle level;(3) Residence,awareness of nursing care and satisfaction withinforming content and time by nurses in advance effect the inpatients satisfaction togeneral nursing care;(4) The satisfaction to nursing in nurses is between fairlyand,which is irrelevant with the inpatients satisfaction to nursing care;(5)Manyinpatients know Demonstration Ward only by nurses’ introduction.Other ways to know Demonstration Ward should be developed.
