Countermeasurement Study Of The Development Of Medical Tourism In Shanxi Province

Medical tourism, the combination of two large industries:medical industry and tourism industry, is one of the most potentialindustries in modern society. At present, overseas medical tourismindustry has developed and formed a large scale, while that in ourcountry is still in primary stage and that in Shan xi is even notdeveloped yet. This paper studies the basic theory about medicaltourism, analyses the current development of medical tourism bothhome and abroad and the advantages and disadvantages of itsdevelopment in Shan xi and further puts forward reasonablestrategies and suggestions for the development of tourism productsand medical tourism in Shan xi. The main content of this paper is asfollowing:(1) Presenting the background of this topic and the values of thisstudy, researching overseas studies about medical tourism,introducing the content and method of this study, and providing theoverall structure of this thesis. The background of study mainlyincludes three aspects: first, the study about international medicaltourism having formed a certain scale; second, three reasons forthe prosperity of medical tourism; third, the resource of medical tourism in our country being rich and medical tourism havingdeveloped.(2) A comprehensive introduction to medical tourism. First,illustrating its connotation and requirement. Second, introducingthe types, features, general process, and the influence of medicaltourism. The types of medical tourism generally includes:treatment& reshaping; leisure& health protection. The mainfeatures are being regional, healthy, and economical and practical.The general process is: early stage preparation-- conducting -- andlater stage service. The influences includes positive and negativeones.(3) Researching the current situation of development of domesticand overseas medical tourism industry. Analysing detailedly aboutmedical tourism in developed regions like India, Thailand,Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong, Taiwan, Beijing, Hainan andXianyang, etc. And based on the above, exploring the motivations,advantages and disadvantages of developing medical tourism inShan xi.(4) Putting forward strategies and suggestion for developingmedical tourism in Shan xi. By analysing the public demand level ofmedical tourism and the resources of medical tourism in Shanxi,doing marketing positioning and route designing for developingmedical tourism in Shanxi, and finally making reasonablesuggestions and strategies: promoting the social recognition ofmedical tourism, governmental support, optimizing variousguarantee facilities; developing medical technology and service;enhancing the cultivation of medical tourism talents; and standardizing the development of medical tourism.(5) Analysing and concluding the research result.
