Background and ObjectiveUrinary stones is one of the most common urological diseases, its mechanism is complex, the variety of influencing factors, including age, gender, environment, climate, hereditary, dietary habits, occupational differences, improper medication, etc., the main treatments of urinary stones are minimally invasive methods, but for less than7mm in diameter ureteral stones, drugs are usually used to get rid of ureteral stone, the tamsulosin is widely used in western medicine, and its efficacy has been affirmed, gravel mixture of traditional Chinese medicine preparation in clinical has been used for many years, but it lacks of relevant clinical control study, the purpose of this study is to observe the application of gravel mixture and efficacy of tamsulosin on promoting ureteral stone expulsion, to promote the gravel mixture in the clinical to apply.MethodsThis was a simple randomized controlled trial. The patients were from Urology outpatient department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during August2011to April2012, and divided1:1:linto gravel mixture treatment group、 tamsulosin treatment group and placebo control group by simple random method. According to exclusion criteria, there were38cases included, of which13cases composed gravel mixture treatment group,13cases composed tamsulosin treatment group, the rest12cases composed placebo control group. The treatment cycle by one week screening period, treatment period of4weeks and1week follow-up period, adverse events occurred in patients with end one week later for follow-up observation of stone expulsion rate in4weeks, stone expulsion time valuation of clinical efficacy, and to keep records of adverse reactions and side effects during the study. To establish the database and then take statistical analysis by using SPSS17.0. Measurement data were mean±standard deviation (-x±s) for statistics said. Statistical test methods:Changes between the three groups before and after treatment using independent sample t test and rank sum test, the three groups before and after themselves control using paired samples t test, count data by exact chi square test, ranked data using rank sum test(Ridit analysis).Results1the general information of the three groups included:gender, age, stone size。 There was not statistically significant (P>0.05), the baselines of the three groups are basically the same before treatment.2Comparing the stone expulsion rate of the placebo group and the tamsulosin group, the discharge rate of tamsulosin group was significantly higher than the placebo group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), Comparing the stone expulsion rate of the placebo group and the gravel mixture group, the discharge rate of gravel mixture group was significantly higher than the placebo group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05),It shows the tamsulosin group and the gravel mixture group in the discharge of ureteral calculi play a significant role in promoting, at the same time, comparing the stone expulsion rate and discharge time of the gravel mixture group and the tamsulosin group, the stone expulsion rate of gravel mixture group is lower than the tamsulosin group, the mean stone expulsion time of gravel mixture group is higher than tamsulosin group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).3Side reaction was not shown during the medication.ConclusionThe gravel mixture in the discharge of ureteral stones plays a significant role in promoting, it can effectively improve the stone expulsion rate, shorten the discharge time of the stones, the gravel mixture is safe、 effective and non-toxic side effects in clinical application.
