ObjectivesWe make the investigations of factors on children with Multiple tics (also called Tourette syndrome or TS) diagnosed in Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM from2007to2009, to explore the prognosis of children with TS and related factors, and provide evidence for assessment of progress、prevention and treatment of TS, which can contribute to make consolidation of treatment, avoid of recurrence, in order to improve the prognosis.MethodsThe follow-up visits were conducted on the clinical data of patients with Multiple tics from January2007to April2009in Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM. ALL cases were consistent with the diagnostic criteria of TS in the4th edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). It is a total of2years of observation. The investigations were performed by the investigators who received special training using the unified questionnaire with the methods of direct inquiry or by telephone. The factors included sex, age, situation of pregnancy, perinatal situation, the habits of eating, family-social relations, the primary symptoms, the severity, basic diseases, coexisting diseases(such as ADHD, Anxiety disorder, Obsessive compulsive disorder), the family psychiatric history, EEC ASO, the level of microelements recorded, cause of disease, the times of repeation, the obedience of medicine and so on. At the end, we input the above factors in computer using the SPSS software to establish a database after auditing and without mistake. We use chi-square test for counting data, Ridit for level data analyzing, Binary logistic for multi-factors regressive analyzing. On the basis of the study, we expatiate on the pathogeny of Chinese Medicine from extrinsic and intrinsic factors, anendo exogenous pathogen.Result There are166cases with follow-up (135male and31female), About40cases lost follow-up and, and62cases(37.3%) not healed,104cases(62.7%) healed. Results from non-conitional simple variant Logistic regression showed that such cases were associated with the following factors:education background of father、bad habits of father、family history respectively、 recurrent respiratory infections、attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)、severity of TS、the times of repeation(P<0.05), out of7suspicious factors, there were family history respectively、recurrent respiratory infection、ADHD、severity of TS、the times of repeation, the OR and95%CI of them were2.363、1.003-5.568,2.510、1.164-5.412,2.425、1.102-5.336,30.594、2.182-429.032,4.957.1.149-21.390.ConclusionThe long-term prognosis of children with TS may be related with family history respectively、recurrent respiratory infection、ADHD、severity of TS. the times of repeation.
