ObjectiveCervical Spondylosis also known as cervical syndrome, is the general term of cervical osteoarthritis, hypertrophic cervical spondylosis, cervical nerve root syndrome and cervical disc protrusion, which is a disorder based on degenerative pathological changes. Nowadays, cervical spondylosis has become a common disease, and an important public health problem. As a result, alleviating the clinical symptoms of cervical spondylosis has also become the important task of modern medical science. We should pay great attention and do deeply research on it. This study aimed to evaluate the curative effect of "Neck Three-Point Needling" with Australian Manipulation of Massage Therapy on Cervical Spondylosis through comparing with the clinical effect of conventional means of rehabilitation on it, in order to explore an effective, sustained, economic and simple treatment method, which can fundamentally solve the problems of the cervical spine rehabilitation.MethodsSixty cases of Cervical Spondylosis were chosen, and divided randomly into treatment group (n=30, treated with "Neck Three-Point Needling" with Australian Manipulation of Massage Therapy) and control group (n=30, treated with conventional means of rehabilitation). All of them are treated every two days (three times a week) and treated for four weeks. The NPQ neckpain scale scores and the Mc-Gill Pain scale scores were compared between the two groups, before and after the treatment. The measurement data was analyzed by t test, and the enumeration data was analyzed by chi-square test.Results1. Overall efficacy:in the treatment group, the good improvement rate was 66.7%, and the total effective rate was96.67%; while in the control group, the good improvement rate was40%, and the total effective rate was86.67%. The two groups had significant differences (P<0.05), and the treatment group was superior to control group.2. After treatment, the NPQ neckpain scale score and the MG-Gill Pain scale score of both the treatment group and the control group were significantly improved with that before treatment, and had significant differences (P<0.05).3. After treatment, the NPQ neckpain scale score, PRI feeling score, PRI total score, VAS score and PPI score of the treatment group, compared with that of the control group, were significantly different (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference (P>0.05) between the PRI emotional score of the two groups.ConclusionsBoth of the two groups had significant healing effect on the treatment of Cervical Spondylosis, while the good improvement rate of the treatment group (treated with "Neck Three-Point Needling" with Australian Manipulation of Massage Therapy) was higher, which can increase the confidence of patients. It fully shows the advantage of the combination of Chinese acupuncture and rehabilitation techniques of western medicine on treating Cervical Spondylosis, which is worth doing deeply research and has great promotion value.
