With the increasing global population and booming economic scale, the environmental issues which caused by global warming, energy shortages, worsening natural disasters etc. has becoming magnificent important. In China solving environmental problems are being priority tasks due to the changing of the urban living condition which caused by fast urbanization. Considering this situation, it is becoming a trend to combine the low carbon design concept with interior design in the context of global low carbon economy.In this dissertation, low carbon residential technology system will be analyzed and discussed. Low carbon interior design has been summarized with four main parts which are low carbon design thinking, low carbon environmental protection and energy saving materials, efficient usage of renewable low carbon sources and low carbon energy-efficient construction methods. In the context of national condition of China, the concept of low carbon interior design is mainly reflecting in four aspects which are interior space design, interior decoration, indoor display and interior physical environment. Low carbon interior space design will be primarily researched from space function division and storage. Low carbon interior decoration will be comprehensive analysed with prefabricated construction and the choosing and processing of indoor decoration materials which include interior wall decoration materials, decorative surface materials, surface materials and recycle materials. Pointing out low carbon domestic instrument design is aimed at the study of low carbon furniture design and low carbon indoor decoration. As a considerable component of low carbon indoor space, low carbon furniture is more energy saving and environment friendly comparing with traditional furniture. Low carbon soft-decoration design will be researched and analyzed from function, style, material, color etc. which related to interior design. Through the analyzing of indoor physical environment which is involved with artificial lighting and natural lighting, human-centred heating method, residential indoor noise reduction and sound insulation material, keeping well balanced relations among these aspects plays an important role in residential interior design.Based on the case study of Sigma Home with zero carbon emission in England, Bamboo House Commune by the Great Wall in China, COFCO&Vanke Changyang No.1real-estate project from Vanke, the advanced experience summarized from these outstanding cases would be important reference for low-carbon residential interior design in China. Through the analyses and researches, strengthen the concept of low-carbon promotion, establish and improve the residential indoor low carbon design evaluation mechanism, establish an effective incentive-system of low carbon housing would be the main strategies to encourage low-carbon residential interior design in China at present. At the same time, these cases will help to investigate and prospect the development trend of low-carbon residential interior design in China. Finally, with a comprehensive analysis and summary of low-carbon residential interior design, a practical program of residential interior design in the context of low-carbon design concept will be established.
