With the development of economy and social progress, the transformation of old industrial buildings has been paid more and more attention. Many old industrial buildings, as a result, have been transformed into different forms such as creative industry park,"Loft", exhibition buildings, office buildings, leisure and entertainment places, residential construction and so on through functional replacement.Exhibition building, seen as cultural sites for collection, exhibition and education, has been considered as one of the important public buildings of the city. It is not only exhibiting window of the city, but also an important media bearing the city’s cultural memory. With the passage of the time and increasing of public cultural undertakings, people come to create a closer relationship with the exhibition building and look forward to higher expectations of it. Except for the newly built exhibition building, exhibition building constructed by the transformation of the old industrial buildings, which is an important means of urban renewal, has become well-known by the public and begin to influent people’s life.In this paper, the applicability of the old industrial building renovation as well as the characteristics of exhibition buildings are used as clues, in order to analyze the transformation of old industrial buildings into the exhibition building with the support from similar cases at home and abroad. While for the analysis, four aspects has been mentioned in the thesis, including longitudinal summary of historical development of the transformation of old industrial building into exhibition buildings, research of the lateral modified classification, research on the methods of adaption in both internal space, external space in the transformation process, which in turn explores the meeting point of architectural space between exhibition buildings and the old industrial buildings. As a result, this paper would provide some meaningful help for the update of the city and the development of cultural undertakings.
