Research On Software System Of Vehicle License Plate Recognition Based On Davinci

License plate recognition system is an essential part of the intelligent transportationsystem, has been widely used in illegal road management, security mount, residentialparking, highway fees, etc. The license plate recognition system based on traditional PCplatform cost too much in the information collection terminal, and its real-timeperformance in information processing application is unreliable. Furthermore, it will causebandwidth pressure in the network management application. In the practical trafficmanagement using license plate recognition system based on traditional PC platform,there are several flaws and limitations.In this thesis, a license plate recognition system based on Davinci embedded platformis presented. In the embedded Linux operating system environment, the license platerecognition software systems is designed for the requirements of video acquisition, videoprocessing and network communications, including PC client software, ARM applicationand DSP algorithm processing software. The network communication, parametersconfiguration and data transfer between PC client and ARM-side, data sharing betweenARM and DSP and calling DSP-side algorithm are achieved. Then the transplantation oflicense plate recognition algorithms to DSP is given in details, the algorithms are modifiedcombined with the characteristics of DSP algorithm and in accordance with standardinterface design of xDM algorithms. Finally, the algorithms are optimized from a Clanguage aspect.The license plate recognition system based on Davinci has several advantages, suchas small, low cost and power consumption, flexibility and so on. The algorithmtransplantation and optimization can give full play to hardware resources in the system;improve the processing speed of license plate recognition algorithm to meet the real-timerequirements, which has broader application prospects than the license plate recognitionsystem based on PC platform.
