The Research For City’s Residential Situation

City is produced by the gathering of people and residence has become one of the essential functions of city. With the rapid urbanization process in China, urban population has been on a sharp upsurge and thereby the pell-mell development has become a matter of common occurrence. The construction mode of "destroy and rebuild" is crushing down the traditional resident system, form and spatial structure. After all, what kind of residential communities can make life better has become the problem we face.Based on the previous researches on residential communities, this thesis has researched on different residential communities in cities, focusing on human demands. And then the author has pointed out the necessity to shape the residential community situations after the analysis from the situational view.Studying on the residential community situations in cities, this thesis has elaborated the development status and problems of urban residential communities, built urban residential situation system framework. The author has also approached the construct methods of residential community situations based on the analysis on both the subjective level (perception, behaviors and activities) and objective level (residential spatial form) of street eye and spaces in residential communities, from the integrated views of psychology and situationism.Finally, the thesis has embedded the achievements of this paper in the analysis of the specific residential communities in Yiyang as case, proved the operability and significance of building residential situations in spatial form design. The author has been committed to seek a development path applying to the construction of modern residential communities in cities of China.
