The subject of this article stems from the problems encountered in the case of urbandevelopment in Guangzhou Huadihe area, face to the city gradually lost vitality and notsuited to modern use, how do solve these problems. In the cases of the practice of many urbanrenewal in our country, improper transformation of measures to make urban culture and thespirit of place has been greatly damaged.Therefore, on the basis of respect for the original culture, we need To find a suitablestrategy for China’s Urban Renewal, achieve the goal of old city substances update,functional adaptation, economic recovery, the regional dynamic excitation. This strategy isvery necessary.In this paper, from the perspective of “urban catalyst” intervention, I Try to find astrategy that through using dynamic factors can arouse the vitality of the city from the local tothe whole area. In this paper the main object of study is the strategy of “physical formcatalyst” in the city, so I define this strategy as “physical form catalyst application strategy”.The strategy consists of three steps, The first step is to find the right entity catalyst, and thento develop the catalyst play a role, last follow-up guide to expand the influence of thecatalyst.Then back to the actual project of uban development of Huadihe area in Guangzhou city,We can solve the problem which encountered in the beginning with the foregoing summary of“physical form catalyst application strategy”.
