Through a systematic research and analysis on design principle of superimposition-effectdigital jacquard fabric, this paper presents an innovative design method of superimposition-effectdigital jacquard fabric based on layer-combination design mode. By using optimized designmethod of full-color compound structure, the novel superimposed effect of digital jacquardfabric can be realized, in which patterns are multi-layered on face of fabric and cannot becovered by each other, and smooth colorful shading effect with mega-level mixed colors.Moreover, the forms of superimposition-effect pattern are summarized, aim at differentsuperimposition-effect pattern has corresponding design method and appropriate patterns layeredway. It is used to guide various types’ superimposition-effect jacquard fabric design. The uniqueeffect will be verified by design illustrations, and its application value will be verified byperformance tests of fabric.Firstly, compared with traditional jacquard fabric, superimposition-effect digital jacquardfabric has many characteristics in pattern selection, color effect, structure feature and production.According to the defect of traditional single layer design method, this superimposition-effectdigital jacquard fabric design method based on layered-combination mode was put forward,which through the layered and combined of several single-layer structures, apply full-colorstructure to set up corresponding full-color gamut weaves, which are used for differentsuperimposition-effect fabric design.Secondly, superimposition-effect pattern can be designed by different ways to get differentfabric effect, for example, the same pattern and different pattern can be used throughdisplacement or level change. Via design practices, the feasibility of layered method can beverified.Finally, compare the performance tests between traditional weft double jacquard fabric andtwo weft superimposition-effect digital jacquard fabric. According to the experimental data, it proves that all performance of jacquard fabric is not influenced by full-color structure andlayered-combination method.This study indicates that based on layered-combination design mode, superimposition-effectdigital jacquard fabric breaks through the limitation of traditional jacquard fabric that only canexpress single-effect pattern. Combined full-color compound structure, the fabric has full-coloreffect where multi-layered patterns are superimposed. Owing to meet the requirement ofbalanced interlacement and full-color effect of superimposition patterns, this design method canbe used in any digital image without any restriction to pattern motif and color, moreover, posingno problem in mass production, which has a wide prospect of market.
