Yaoluoping National Nature Reserve is in the main part of the Dabie Mountains peak watershed, with an area of123km2. The whole experimental area is7340hm2with the core area of2120hm2and the buffer area of2840hm2, and its altitude ranges from500m to1700m. It belongs to northern subtropical subalpine forest ecosystem with the annual precipitation of1400-2000mm, belonging to high precipitation zone in the Dabie Mountains. The annual average temperature is15℃and the temperature changes obviously with different altitudes and drops0.48℃for every100meters. The animal distribution shows obvious vertical differences in frost-free210-220d. There are rich biological resources in the reserve because of its favorable natural condition. More than2000kinds of vascular plants, over100kinds of large fungi,18species of amphibians,25species of reptiles,129species of birds and40kinds of mammals were discovered in the reserve as the preliminary investigation shown. More than95%of forest coverage plays a good role of soil and water conservation.According to the2006test results, biological abundance index of Yaoluoping is121.38, vegetation index is108.98. The water quality is excellent and oxygen-richin in protected areas, which provided favorable conditions for the reproduction of the dragonfly larvae. From2009to2011, the findings as follows were caught out from investigation on flora and diversity of Odonata in the Yaoluoping area by the kind of point and line transects methods:(1) A total of18,941belonging to12families,53kinds of Odonata in which the Libellulidae with26kinds is the dominant insects were captured from the investigation.(2) Fauna:Yaoluoping located in the Dabie Mountains abdominal watershed which is the transition zone of Palaearctic and Oriental. It was found that there are6kinds of Palaearctic species and22kinds of Oriental species, indicating that the distribution of Yaoluoping dragonfly flora is the Oriental-based. Odonata diversity:Yaoluoping dragonfly diversity index Shannon Weiner index is2.1329. The theoretical maximum diversity index is Hmax=3.9703, evenness index J’=2.10/9.84=0.213, in which dominant species of dragonfly is6342. The dragonfly total number is18941, D=6342/18941=0.33.Different habitats, the distribution of species in the roadside dragonfly most speculated, the reason is that for the most time investigation is done along the road, and the roadside is near the stream,. In the dense forests and bamboo, dragonfly distribution has the highest similarity, the reason is that the bamboo forest and jungle hidden space is limited, and is not suitable for good at flying large Odonata. Similar to the least, because of mountain altitude difference, less reservoirs and other habitats, resulting in limited sampling and the large area of waters dragonflies lack of habitat material, makes the species less observed.
