This study was conducted to investigate the butterfly resources and diversity in Saihanwula National Nature Reserve from May 2017 to September 2018.The diversity characters, the similarity between different habitats, the species-abundance curve and the fauna of butterfly communities in conservation area was analysed. The effects of habitats, seasonal changes and climatic factors on the diversity of butterfly communities were discussed. The main results were as follows:1.In this study we recorded a total of 5629 butterfly individuals belonging to 78 species,53 genera, and 5 families.Nymphalidae, with the most genus, species, number of individuals, diversity index and species richness index.Lycaenidae was the second;Papilionidae was the least.2.The results of butterfly fauna analysis in the conservation area showed that the widespread distribution of Gubei-Dongyang has the greatest advantage.Protected area butterflies were mainly distributed in Mengxin District,NortheastDistrict and North China Region in China's animal geographic region. In Inner Mongolia geographical sub-region,it mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia plateau sub-region and Nenxi plain sub-region.3.There were differences in the diversity of butterfly communities in different habitats, the number of families, genera, species and individuals in mountain valley meadows was the highest;the diversity index and species richness index of the mountainous shrubs were the highest, and the dominance index was the lowest;the number of families, genera, species, individuals, diversity index and species richness index of degraded grassland were the lowest.4.The similarity coefficient between different habitats was mainly concentrated between 0.25~0.5,which was moderately dissimilar. The species-abundance curve analysis showed that the pattern maps of four habitats in the conversation area were normally distributed, indicating the habitat quality were good, suitable for butterfly survival and reproduction.5.Time sequence dynamic analysis of different habitat diversity indices showed that the diversity index, species and individual number of each habitat reached the maximum in June or July;the evenness index of all habitats except degraded grasslands and wetlands was relatively stable;the dominance index of each habitat reached the minimum in June or July, the maximum in August or September.6.Correlation analysis between climate factors and number of butterfly species and individuals showed that there was a significant correlation between temperature and species and individuals of butterfly;there was no significantcorrelation between rainfall and species and individual numbers, relative humidity and species and individuals of butterfly.
