Plant diversity, a base of survival and development of human being, guarantees sustainability of cities. The rapid development of global urbanization process greatly reduced diversity of plant, and negatively influenced the quality of living conditions in cities. Therefore, with the increasingly anthropic activities, more attention has been attracted to the dynamic of urban plant community in cities. To acquire information of plant resources of Gong’an County and meet the needs of creating a national garden city, we made a systematic investigation of plant species in the different zones of the county.According to investigation and floristic analysis, there are342seed plant species, among them.106species of woody plant and236species of herb, which belong to104genera and249families in urban area of Gong’an county. The flora is of an obvious temperate feature. Tropical elements are plentiful with comparatively high affinity relationship to tropical flora. There were several flaws in plant selection and design, such as. the ratio of evergreen and deciduous trees (arbor and shrub) existed disharmony, respectively:more non-native species were applied. Furthermore, environmental pollution, especially the deterioration of water resources directly caused the reduction of aquatic plant species. According to the field survey and literature data analysis, we initially identified16invasion plant species. In this study, based on the Gong’an County Center City Green Space System Plan (2010-2020), Then, we divided urban area of Gong’an County into five parts, and put forward the concrete suggestion, in term of the regional plant resources and the development status. The main suggestions in plant protection include:full remediation of environmental pollution; increasing urban garden plant species, especially indigenous plant species; actively cultivating rare and endangered species, introducing alien species appropriately.
