In this paper, Jiangsu shipbuilding industry competitiveness was studied. On thecomprehensive analysis of the development status and characteristics, the industry’sdevelopment advantages and problems were cleared. Through policy analysis andsimulation, suggestions and countermeasures to enhance the competitiveness were declaredbased on system dynamics.Firstly, on the basis of all the scholars, the evolution process of the industrialcompetitiveness was summarized, which deepen the cognition of the theory and defined thescope of the study. Then, the paper introduced system dynamics and analyzed the researchapplications, thus demonstrated the applicability of the system dynamics method in thestudy of Jiangsu shipbuilding industry competitiveness.Secondly, on the basis of analyzing the characteristics and development status ofJiangsu shipbuilding industry, the paper summarized the advantages and shortcomings ofthe industry. The same time, the paper detailed and powerfully analyzed the diamond modeltheory in the following ways. One is the theoretical contribution and the other is its defectsin the research applications of Jiangsu shipbuilding industry competitiveness. Amendmentof the diamond model theory was made on the basis of the reality of Jiangsu shipbuildingindustry, in which way the influencing factors were cleared.Thirdly, the paper mainly focused on the simulation study of Jiangsu shipbuildingindustry competitiveness. Firstly, based on Jiangsu shipbuilding industry competitivenessfactor model and combination of system dynamics theory, Jiangsu shipbuilding industrycompetitiveness system was divided into four subsystems, which are performancecompetitiveness, dominant competitiveness, basis competitiveness and environmentalcompetitiveness. Secondly, with in-depth analysis of each subsystem, the system dynamicsmodel of each subsystem was built. And then, the system dynamics model, systemflowcharts and system dynamics equations was launched. Finally, a detailed simulationanalysis of Jiangsu shipbuilding industry competitive system was carried out, which gave usmore intuitive and comprehensive understanding of Jiangsu shipbuilding industrycompetitiveness system.Finally, based on the conclusions obtained in the previous section of the paper, theeffective countermeasures and suggestions to enhance the competitiveness of Jiangsu shipbuilding industry were declared.
