A nation with the people-oriented thought should pay great attention to food security for people will regard food as their prime want. Since it is the duty of the government to strengthen the food safety supervision, our country values it highly. Based on the principle that one apartment should be in charge of one section, the supervision was divided into four sections by the Council in 2004, including planting, production, circulation and consumption, being in the charge of Department of Agriculture, Quality Control, Industry and Commerce, and Food and Drug respectively. On 1st June, 2009, the Food Safety Law of PRC was enacted. The provision emphasizes that the Health administrative departments under the Council is responsible for the coordination of each section. Based on this principle, the Supervision System of Food Safety, relying mainly on the coordination of each section supplemented by the diversity of food has been set up. However, food safety accidents occur diversely, which reveals that there are some inherent problems in this system.This paper centers on the problems of the Supervision System of Food Safety in Guangdong, using some related theories and methods of government supervision system. Some researches are done on the evolution of the supervision system since the early days of foundation. The paper also analyses the problems of the recent Supervision System of Food Safety and suggests some strategies to improve the system in Guangdong, referring to experience from foreign countries.
