Power industry is the most essentially basic energy industry in the national economy, which has close relationship with social economy and development. Since the reforming-and-opening policy started, Chinese power industry has developed continuously, healthily, rapidly. With the rapid development of China's economy, the demand of electric power has been increasing, and the large-scale development of power market directly stimulates the development of the whole power production field. After disconnection between Power Plant and Power Grid, it changed that the pattern of unified planning, unified constructing, unified uniting dispatch and unified accounting. Power generation enterprises have gradually become market competition corpus that manage for themselves and assume sole responsibility. XX Co. Ltd. is a large listed company, mainly in electricity production. Facing with increasingly fierce competition in the electricity market structure, how to give full play to the company's own advantages, to seize opportunities to continually improve the company's core competitiveness, to propose the most suitable strategic countermeasures for sustained and healthy development of enterprises under the background of the system reforming. Maintaining the sustainable development is an urgent problem to solve. Making and implementing effectively company's new development strategy is of great guide significance to company's survival and development.This paper has made a thorough research on the company development strategy from the actual situation and specific operation environment of XX Co. ltd., to try to achieve a combination of theoretical nature and practical nature. Firstly, the paper briefly overview the current development of power industry and company strategic planning and the practical significance of making strategy. Secondly, this paper has analyzed and discussed in detail the external environment and internal resources of the company, and systematically studied the strategy environment of the company's development. This paper used strategic analysis tools such as PETS, Porter's Five Forces Model, SWOT to analyze external environment, competitive situation, competitive structure, and internal resources situation of the company, cleared the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. Through comprehensive analysis, the paper presented the company's development strategy:Relying on the controlling shareholder benefits, integrating internal and external assets, resources and services, to strengthen the core of industrial electricity and implement the rapid expansion strategy; Extending the industrial chain, and actively developing related industries, to implement diversified business; Using modern scientific management, making great efforts to reduce production and operation costs, and enhancing core competitiveness, to implement overall cost leadership strategy. Finally, the paper proposed the specific safeguard measures for implementation of the strategy.The paper points out:In the case of industry coming to maturity and fierce competition, the company must adapt to the change of industry policy and market situation, accurately orientate the company's market, focus all the resources and energies on one aspect that the company is expert in, strengthen and consolidate the existing competitive advantages, to remain invincible in the fierce competition.
