Abstract:Stress management has development very quickly in Western psychology and management studies, but less been studied in China. The study first reviewed the related literatures in sources of stress, impacts of stress, and coping and management of stress, and adopted the individual-environment fit theory as the analysis frame of this study. Based on this frame, the study analyzed the competitive environment and strategic position of SQTETX Company, revealed the adaptive changes and strategic renewals of the firm responding to the rapid changing environment, and proposed that the employees would face far more stress in such situation. Then, the study conducted a questionnaire survey and analysis about employee stresses in SQTETX Company. Totally 4549 questionnaires have been sent out including 4249 to main company,300 to industrial company; 2882 questionnaires were returned with a returning rate as 67.8%. Based on the above survey data, some comparison and analysis have done according to some criteria such as the positions, jobs, and employment types (e.g. with main company or industrial company). The results have shown that, most employees of SQTETX were facing stresses from works, no matter how about their majors, positions, and ages, and they seemed to like more challenging jobs. The major source of employee stress came from works, indicating in the aspects of job task requirement, organizational internal coordination, career development, criteria of performance appraisal; the mental stress mainly came from the external market competition and internal position competition, and some reforms of human resource management policy. Based on some further summaries and extractions, the paper has raised up some managerial and policy suggestions of stress management, and these conclusions would have important guiding functions to the further developments of SQTETX. |
