The geological exploration public service units obtained the certain effect in the performance wage reform from 2006 by the policy of the government, but there are still some special disadvantages, such as the large proportion of the post wage; the inflexibility of the allocation; the formalism of the performance wage, most of the units increase the performance wage just by their workers'titles or positions and cause lager financial burden; performance evaluations are lack of scientific and reasonable, and the management of allowances and subsidies is disorder.The geological exploration trade is the foundation of the national economy, and it surveys and explores natural recourses for the nation. Now, a part of such geological exploration public service units have been entrepreneurial, it become a difficult question to the system reform how to make this units market-oriented. Performance wage reform of the geological exploration public service units is earlier than its system reform, it has reasons as follows:First, this reform is the crucial part of the system reform of the geological exploration units, it decides the success of the whole reform; second, it can regulate the distribution order and relations, then promote the reform of the personnel system; last, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of this units'public services and construct resource conservation and environment friendly society.This paper uses the theory of management by objectives, researches the performance wage reform of the geological exploration public service units by literature reading method, empirical analysis, analytic comparison, and gives the measures as follows:Establish and improve the performance appraisal system, clean up and standardize allowances and subsidies, deal with interests between the workers on-the-job and retirees properly, and constructs the framework that are suitable for the characteristics of this units. Finally, the article points out that post setting and job analysis are the foundations to the performance wage reform of the geological exploration public service units, the difficulty and emphasis is the collection, quantification and weight distribution of the performance indicators, and emphasizes that this reform is a long-term systematic project which needs constant exploration and improvement.
