Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) has many advantages, such as wide bandwidth, far transmission distance, low cost, easy maintenance, etc. As the technology advancing and improving,EPON has been large-scale business at home and abroad, With the developing of EPON business, business shortcomings gradually apparent, EPON operational needs further optimization to satisfy society's growing demands. In today's society networks is playing an increasingly important role. The traditional network business has been unable to meet customer demand for high quality of service, in order to develop new business, operators are also made new demands. Through research, new market not only requires a stable and secure EPON business, but also to provide intelligent services. In order to achieve these purposes, EPON need to optimized in the following areas:(1)Equipment prevent attacks; (2) Quality of Service (3)switch time; (4) redundant protection. In this paper, Chapter 1 describes EPON business development and trends, proposed EPON defects and need for optimization, clear purpose to be achieved in this topic; Chapter 2 describes the EPON network structure and working principle, based on understanding the status and working principle analytical the problems and hazards on EPON business; Chapter 3 find the root cause of Issue, proposed control switches to optimization EPON business;Chapter 4 combines the characteristics of EPON business, based on the theory to develop specific programs to solve the problem and introduces the program concrete implementation methods; Chapter 5 development effective experimental program, test whether the experimental data to achieve the desired results. Chapter 6 summarize the successes and shortfalls, presented the study to be conducted after.
