Research And Implementation Of The Card Communication Protocol About Distributed Ethernet Switch

At present, the rapid development of computer network has driven the rapiddevelopment and application of cloud computing, E-commerce, Internet of Things, HDvideo and brought the explosive increase of the network data traffic. It also has theincreasingly high demand on the hardware and software of the Layer three switches. It isnot only to improve the hardware processing power to meet the growth demand for variousapplication traffic, but also to improve software reliability even virtualization design abilityto adapt to the needs of development of network equipment. Traditional Ethernet switchfunctionality and performance has been difficult to meet the current multi-service,high-capacity demand, so Layer three switches has become the hotspot of networkapplications.With the development of Layer three switches from the beginning of one-board to therack-mounted at present, its reliability and exchange capacity has been greatly improved.The one-board and rack-mounted of Layer three switches using software architecture iscentralized software architecture, With the explosive growth of the data traffic, thecentralized software architecture can not meet the exchange of large capacity data, so it isnecessary to have a research on the distributed Layer three switches.Because of the Layer three switches’ software systems is very complicated, the mainsubject of this study is how to achieve interactive communication between MCC (MasterControl Card) and LC(Line Card) efficiency, improving the performance of the entiredistributed Layer three switches to meet the growing application requirements.This study is based on the VLAN ID to achieve the interactive communicationbetween MCC and LC, including how to design and achieve the protocol of DCP aboutinteractive communication between MCC and LC.Furthermore, through the practical testing and application, there are someshortcomings of the DCP protocol which based on the VLAN ID, improving the DCPprotocol based on the multicast address, so it has improved the communication efficiency,finally it improved the performance of distributed Layer three switches(this article is also called distributed ethernet switch).
