The video surveillance system is a security system used for daily production, has been widely used by all walks of life for its intuitive, content-rich characters. The rapid development of IT technology and improvement of bandwidth provides the necessary technical support for high-quality surveillance video transmission. Nowadays video surveillance system is moving towards the network-supported, intelligent direction.This thesis is mainly on network video surveillance system, firstly researches on the system architecture of the network video surveillance system, and proposes two different architectures of video monitoring system, analyzes the architecture of several main storage solutions on the market, and chooses the storage solutions for the network video surveillance system. In IP networks, for the "best effort delivery" character of the data transmission, data loss is Inevitable, we study on the factors that influence the video quality in network surveillance system and then propose an adaptive transmission algorithm based on the user experience. On the basis of the above studies, we give two solutions of the video surveillance system and elaborate the working mechanism of the key module in the both solutions, and then finish two implementations in data storage solutions on the local storage and public cloud-based storage.At the last part of this thesis, we test all modules in the solutions, the results show that, the systems in this thesis have got a certain degree of practicality and stability, the video adaptive transmission has also met the expectations of our initial target. The network video surveillance systems are easy to extend in terms of application architecture and storage management, and better able to meet the needs of users, with substantial cost savings for users, these all features make the video surveillance systems to meet the market's demand.
