With the rapid development and wide applications of wireless networkcommunication technology, wireless sensor network (WSN) not only becomes abridge for human to perceive the physical world information, but also brings about arevolution in the field of information perception. Now, WSN is turning from researchstage to large-scale commercial applications. In this process, we have to solve theproblems that how to make all kinds of WSN, which are made from differentmanufactures, work efficiently for human users, and how to ensure the reliability ofthe fusion WSN.In this paper, we studied the heterogeneous WSN fusion model emphaticallybased on the research of the traditional wireless network fusion model, and designed aLoosely-Coupled WSN fusion model. Then based on the above-mentioned model, wedesigned the WSN gateway and the communication protocol for the heterogeneousWSN fusion system. Finally, we analyzed the feasibility and its performance whichconsidered the light control system and green belts irrigation control system in SmartResidential Community as the application background. This study provides thereference for future heterogeneous WSN efficient fusion model research.Firstly, this paper described the basic content of WSN technology, researchbackground and current situation in and abroad, the WSN architecture and cha-racteristics of WSN.Secondly, this paper described the common fusion model of the traditionalwireless network and compared them synthetically. In order to get to the goal of fewernetwork energy consumption and transmission delay, we focused most effort ondesigning the heterogeneous WSN fusion model, and described the software andhardware design and communication protocol design of the system gateway in details.Finally, we realized a WSN fusion demo system using RFID and ZigBee networktechnology based on this fusion model. Through a lot of experiments, we verified thefunction and network communication ability of the system. By using this method, weverified the feasibility and rationality of the heterogeneous WSN fusion model.
