Indeed, the currency international news in a substantial part of the world, is chosen, processed and transmitted according to the standard of America, they serve in the interests and targets of the United States. The American media play an important role in formatting images of other countries with the help of solid economic strength, advanced technology, rich experience and the spread of English language advantage, it has great impact to the vast number of developing countries including China.In view of the gradual improvement of the comprehensive strength of China, the U.S. mainstream media on the behalf of government gives China more attention. Meanwhile the report topic selection, reported way and the tendency are gradually changing because of the reporters'investigation which worth our learning and studying.This paper mainly selects The New York Times reports involving minority news about China these years as cases, with the method of text analysis, comparative analysis to find out the change of the number of ethnic minority reports, topic selection, the words used in recent years, study The New York Times construction of the mold about Chinese minority image, in order to restore the original intention of different reports of the ethnic minorities in China from the American mainstream media like The New York Times, through exploring its report motivation, analyzing its characteristics and reported way, locate the weak of our minority reports, strengthen the validity of our ethnic minorities'reports, and form an effective guidance for the main west media.
