A Study On Museum Vistor Studies

In the early21st Century, the importance of the visitor studies has been considered as the most significant challenge that museums around the world face to. In China, with the government and private sponsers, increasing number of museums have been built, and visiting museums and exhibitions has became an indispensable part of people's life. However, the research of visitors is still in its early stages in China. At this point, it is timely and necessary to introduce Western visitor studies theory and research methods to mainland museum workers and researchers.So I take the visitor studies as a museology research topic, analysis the theoretical strategies and literature, and systematically discussed the connotation and extension, discipline development and research methods on audience research. In addition, this paper also preliminarily investigated the history and current status of the museum visitors study in China, to tease out some issues and thinking, complement the discussion on this topic, in order to be able to make a preliminary reference for the professional development of museum visitor studies.
