Today the media has been deep into the lives of everyone. Each of us also makes use of the media to watch social development and change. It can be said that the media not only allows us to cognitive society, but also reflect the status and causes of the many problems of the society. The media and social culture are interdependent, the media is showing the socio-cultural carrier, and shaping and changing the social and cultural.Serious newspapers are the authority of channels in various media. This study takes the People's Daily, China Youth Daily and Washington Post as the study sample, and does the analysis and comparison of these three newspapers women in political arena, women in the society news and women in sports arena. Find the link between gender and communication through the combination of quantitative and qualitative research.The research analyzes the similarities and differences of female images between Chinese and American newspaper. Through the comparison and analysis, I draw a conclusion that with more and more women participating in the mainstream social culture, their appearance and discourse exist in every aspect of social life. Both Chinese and American newspapers present the portray of female images in public. However, in newspaper reports, there are different ideologies of gender regarding specific news statements including the objects, events, attitudes and ideological direction in the reports. So there are diversities which are resulted in different cultural, historical, political, economical and social background in female images between Chinese and American newspaper reports.
